Visa or Company Registration? Why Most Founders Need Both
Updated October 2026.
Founders often ask whether they need a visa or a company. The honest answer is that they solve different problems.
A company lets your business operate Registering a company gives your business a legal home. It lets you sign contracts and open a bank account and hire staff and pay tax in that country. A trademark protects your brand name and logo there. These are the Registration Services on our country pages.
A visa lets you live and work there A visa or residence permit gives you the right to live in the country. Many programs also expect you to run the business yourself. These are the routes in the Visa Track.
Why one does not replace the other Setting up a company does not by itself give you residency. The same is true in the UAE where a trade license does not create Golden Visa eligibility. And a visa usually needs a real business behind it. Some programs even require a specific kind of business. Spain's Entrepreneur Visa needs an innovative plan assessed by ENISA. Singapore's EntrePass expects funding or intellectual property.
A simple way to plan Start with where you want to live and which route fits your business. Then set up the company and trademark that route needs. Our assessment shows both tracks side by side. A consulting session turns that into a step-by-step plan.
